Jonathan Mackenzie, B.A., J.D. is a Lawyer and Notary Public in Toronto, Canada.
Jonathan’s practice focuses on corporate and commercial matters including Franchise Law and Labour & Employment Law. Jonathan provides professional legal, policy consulting, and strategy services to law firms, companies including Franchisors and Franchisees, regulated health professional associations, health care providers, and individuals.
Jonathan is also an Instructor with Osgoode Professional Development (Osgoode PD), teaching Canadian Contract Law in the Professional LLM in Canadian Common Law programme.
Jonathan prides himself on clear, ongoing communication with his clients. In any legal matter, he makes sure that he always has a clear understanding of the client’s goals and tailors his advice accordingly.
Jonathan has extensive legal drafting experience which includes preparing pleadings for Superior Court, Mediation and Pre-Trial Briefs, Franchise Disclosure Documents, Franchise Agreements, Employment Agreements, and a variety of other legal documents.
From 2011 to 2019, Jonathan practiced in the areas of insurance defence and personal injury litigation at several well-established insurance defence and personal injury firms in the Greater Toronto Area. During that time, Jonathan represented injured persons as well as some of Canada’s largest insurers at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court, and at various tribunals.
In 2019, Jonathan completed the Real Estate Salesperson Education Course with the OREA Real Estate College and obtained his Real Estate License. From 2019 to 2022, Jonathan worked as Corporate Legal Counsel at the largest Canadian-owned Real Estate Franchisor, where his practice focused on Franchise Law, Labour & Employment Law, Intellectual Property Law, and a variety of other corporate and commercial matters.
